Two people, one warm room

About

We teach the way we wish we'd been taught

In Body Wellness started in a spare room in Grey Lynn with four friends, a stack of blankets and a speaker. It grew because people kept coming back, not because we ran ads.

Breathwork facilitator, co-founder

Thank you for checking out our mission here at IBW. I'm Jonathan and it's a pleasure to connect.

As a former personal trainer and the founder of a natural health platform here in NZ, holistic wellness has been at the heart of my journey for over 20 years. I've explored countless healing modalities in that time, but none have quite impacted me as deeply as breathwork.

Breathwork has become my anchor through many pivotal moments in my life. It was the go-to tool that helped me navigate change, release suppressed emotion, and find clarity when I needed it most. Most importantly, breathwork has helped me parent my teenage daughters with greater presence and consciousness, and show up as the father I want to be.

As a certified breathwork coach, I bring all of that experience to client sessions. My approach is gentle, supportive, and tailored to what you actually need, so you can use your own breath for healing and self-discovery — whatever that looks like for you.

If you're after a more grounded, connected and empowered way of being, I'd be honoured to support you and take the next step together.

Certified Yin Breathwork facilitator and coach

I discovered the power of breathwork during the chaos of the Covid years.

Like so many others, I was doing my best to stay calm and grounded in a world that suddenly felt incredibly unpredictable. I found that slowing down and connecting to my breath brought me a sense of peace and clarity I hadn't felt in years. What began as a simple way to manage stress soon became a deeply healing practice that changed how I moved through life.

As I kept exploring, I was drawn to Yin Breathwork — a softer, more restorative approach that invites us to let go rather than push harder. It's where we soften, surrender, and let the breath do the work, with sound, touch and presence guiding you every step of the way.

It helped me regulate my nervous system, release tension, and reconnect with myself in a gentle, sustainable and deeply loving way. That experience led me to become a certified Yin Breathwork Facilitator and coach so I could share it with others who might need it too.

Breathwork has also had a huge impact on my family. My teenage daughters have grown up watching me weave these practices into daily life, and it's been incredible to see how it's supported them through the challenges of adolescence — simple breathing techniques for stressful moments, big emotions, and the ups and downs of growing up. My biggest joy has been watching them find their own connection to their breath.

Now I hold space for others who want to slow down, reconnect, and find some calm within themselves. My approach is gentle, down-to-earth, and rooted in the belief that real change often starts with something as simple as a single conscious breath.

I look forward to connecting with you and co-creating your beautiful future through the power of breathwork.

In their words

"I came in braced for something intense. I left having done almost nothing, and slept through the night for the first time in months."

How we work

Four things we hold to

Consent, every time

Touch is opt-in and you can change your mind mid-session without explaining.

Small rooms

Twelve people maximum so we can actually see how everyone is doing.

No performance

You can lie there and do very little. That still counts as practice.

Honest limits

Breathwork helps a lot of things. It isn't therapy or medical care, and we'll say so.
